Practical Victorian Greenhouse and Conservatory Restoration Self-Help Course
This practical Victorian Greenhouse Restoration Course can provide the necessary help, guidance and encouragement that is all you need to get started on your own greenhouse or conservatory restoration. Despite a universal and tremendous respect of the Victorian engineering involved and a desire by owners to conserve their historic structure, many people are very hesitant to get started on their own because of the lack of information and know-how available.
Getting started is one of the biggest obstacles that must be overcome if you wish to conserve your own structure. Here at Winsford Walled Garden we offer a short weekend course to help get your enthusiasm surging so that it will propel you to make an informed start on what will be a hugely satisfying project that is not nearly as costly as you have almost certainly been advised.
For £160 we now offer an inclusive one night stay for two, in top quality double en suite B&B accommodation, and the opportunity to discover from people who have actually done it themselves, what's really involved when you start on your own.
You will learn about the history of these structures and why and how they were built the way they were. You will be free to photograph anything you wish, and (if necessary), be directed towards additional sections we believe are pertinent for your own particular project.
Learn how to cut glass painlessly (both for fingers and pocket) using tools that you are very unlikely to have seen previously. We explain the advantages and disadvantages of using different timbers and methods. Show how best to seal your glazing and which, in our opinion, is the best product to use.
When you leave with your questions answered you will be enthused to begin your own project based upon tried and tested means that you yourself have witnessed.
Following your stay Michael will be available to answer any further email queries.
“Mike's experience in stabilising, repairing and conserving his own greenhouses has been hugely helpful by letting me understand the designs and construction methods used when these wonderful structures were originally built. Our visit provided many clues to the things we need to consider for our own project. Mike's knowledge and enthusiasm are infectious and the fact that his greenhouses are located within a superb garden made for a very pleasant and informative stay.”Mr I Thomas, Kent.
