Victorian Garden and Greenhouse Restoration
The primary aim of this Restoration section of Winsford Walled Garden is to pool knowledge and resources on all kinds of Victorian Restoration work, regardless of condition, regardless of budget and irrespective of location for the benefit of everyone.
Do you have photographs of your own Victorian structure, small Victorian hand tool or Victorian equipment? Or perhaps you have just 'inherited' a walled garden like we did, and are starting out on what will become your very own great project?
However large, small, or inconsequential you might think your Victorian 'item' or project is. We know there are people who would like to hear about it no matter what it's condition. So, if you can provide a jpeg image and some descriptive details and tell us how you found it, we would be delighted to put it on line and share your good fortune.
We hope that in time, 'Winsford' will evolve into something of a centre for all things Victorian. To become a resource of original Victorian structures, tools and equipment, etc. We're interested in anything Victorian or even Edwardian in the garden. Check our pages on English Walled Garden - The Walls and lawnmower history for example.
For those who are fortunate enough to have a Victorian structure in their own backyard we have produced a fully detailed Victorian Greenhouse Restoration Guide in pdf format. The Guide details our restoration of two Victorian greenhouses, both of which are built of teak, and is very helpful for anyone considering doing the work themselves or simply for those who wish to see what's involved with a view to someone else doing the work for them.
